Product(s): DSP (AoB - MM) SDK Platform

Reason: Rare system freeze with ‘N’ boards

A rare timing issue has been found on some DaytonaMM and PrimenetMM boards produced after October 2009. The issue involves bus timings not falling within a specific component’s specification. This bus timing is controlled by firmware and this is not a hardware issue. Not all hardware will exhibit the problem due to varying chip tolerances.

This issue can demonstrate itself as a system freeze, bluescreen/segfault or possibly DSP errors that cannot be attributed to a hardware fault.

The issue has the potential to affect both Windows or Linux installations using boards with a ‘N’ identifier in the part number.

The solution is to use an updated version of the board’s firmware. This firmware is included in all versions of Montecarlo 6.7.2 or greater and downloaded each time at initialization.
